Canadian Identity Reflection

Where do you see yourself in the Canadian Narrative/story?

The images I put on my collage represent what I think it means to be Canadian. The left side of my collage shows images of popular things people identify Canada with. Tim Hortons, beavers, hockey, moose, maple syrup and polar bears are just some of the things on the left side of my collage. Beavers, moose and polar bears are all native Canadian animals. Tim Hortons is only in Canada and hockey is one of the national sports of Canada. I also put a picture of the RCMP logo which is the royal Canadian mounted police.

On the right side of my collage I put things that represent me, such as Scotland,Hamilton, Italy, EHSA, Steps dance studio, and Sir Winston Churchill secondary school. I put Scotland on my poster because my family is Scottish and we identify with that a lot, I put Hamilton because I have lived in Hamilton my whole life, and Italy because my mom is Italian. EHSA stand stands for east Hamilton soccer association, I put it on my poster because soccer used to be a big part of my life. Steps dance studio is where I used to dance, it is on my collage because dancing was/is a big part of my life as well.

The quotes on my collage are: my quote-“a place where I am accepted for who I am.”

-“Home is where everyone feels welcome, my home is Canada.”

-“Tim Hortons and bad hockey.”

-“Wild and free home.”

My quote means Canada is a place where who can be whoever you want and you will be accepted for that.

In the middle I put Freedom, Unity, Happiness, Home, Peace, Family and Love. I put these words because I think they all represent Canada and what Canada is.
