The event that was the most significant in Canadian history is the Battle of Ortona AKA Little Stalingrad in central Italy because Canadians were given the mission to capture the town because it was a key German command centre. Canadians used a technique called mouseholing which is basically moving from house to house because the streets were impassable. They suscessfully drived the German soldiers out of Ortona and the Canadian forces called “The Vandoos” distinguished themselves in the battle.
