History dates back to millions, trillions of years ago. We look back in time to predict what the giant reptilian creatures of prehistoric Earth looked like, We look back to see how the cosmic dust of the big bang expanded and collided to make the galaxy we live in today. History is an important piece of our lives, it tells us about our past, our ancestors and our technology, but without history, how would we know about the human races milestones and downfalls?
Without history, we would be clueless and most certainly not as advanced as we are now. We base our creations off of our past ancestors technology, strength and willpower. Humans need history to advance in life. What if we never learned about Hitler and the Holocaust? What if we never learned about Vimy Ridge and the second battle of ypres? History tells tales that no one can image, that is why the human race knows so much as of right now. Image in the future, looking back on us today, we will be far more advanced than anyone can dream of in the present.
In history this semester, I learned about things I knew and things I didn’t know. For example, I never knew the second battle of Ypres, Belgium, the Germans used their poison gas for the very first time. What was shocking was the fact that us Canadian troops soaked our rags in urine, and continued to fight alone until our backup showed up. I also learned about how in WWI, women were accepted into certain jobs to help the men out at seas. They even fought for their jobs for when the men returned.
With all my knowledge of history (and some more, if I decide to take a job within this region) I could become a History teacher, an archaeologist, an astronomer or even work at a war museum.
Without history, us humans wouldn’t be able to discover about what we did in the past, whether it be good, or bad. History is history and all of it is important to learn about ourselves and the past of the Earth and our galaxy.
