Canada 150

I believe that Vimy ridge was the most historic and one of the more achieved moments from Canadian history. At Vimy, close to a hundred thousand Canadians poured from trenches, dugouts and tunnels, surged up a slope and conquered an enemy position which was considered to be impossible by its German opponents. Only one of the four Canadian divisions failed to conquer all of its objectives by noon on the ninth of April, 1917. After the glorious victory for Canadians, they had looked at war with more confidence and knowledge. This war had also been the “birth” of the nation. Politically this had been a big win and had allowed them to pass conscription crisis. Socially this had hurt families and have left mental scars because some had lost their entire families. People had lost friends aswell and knowing that they could never come back would be devastating.
